So Chicago just lost out on getting the 2016 Olympics--eliminated on the first round of voting. :o(

Yeah, I think you're right. We could have made some $$ on renting our apartment, but it wouldn't have been good for the city.

I still have reservations about the 2010 Olympics being here in my city. I'm kind of excited, but it's certainly likely to cost we the taxpayers a few pennies before it's all over.

And Chicago has so much corruption that it was really clear the taxpayers were going to be paying for more than just the Olympics.

Still, it's fun! When it was in Atlanta, about 200 miles away, we had some spillover in the form of training camps, qualifying events, etc., and it was neat to be around all that. Being where the real thing happens will be wonderful! And you could sublet for $$$ if you wanted to. If you or any friends do want to do that, one way you can do it is through www.vrbo.com That's how we rent our beach house and it works really well. Just don't rent to groups of young party animals.
