Great article by Tina Brown on Harriet Miers: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/12/AR2005101202328.html

"The healthiest aspect of the Harriet Miers nomination is that women haven't rallied to her cause...."

Thanks for sharing, excellent article. Though in England in the 1980's a great many of us ladies were thinking 'we'd rather have a man'.:-)

Yah, depends on whether you look at her politics or her independence, I think. But given that both have creepy politics, I'd rather have Maggie as a role model than Harriet.

How awful to have to suck up to people like Bush to have a successful career. I guess in those days (and these), you can be Barbara Jordan or you can be Condi Rice. The funny/not funny part is watching the inherent misogyny and desire to stick it to the Democrats in the right battle their desire to slavishly follow their party. The Republicans went too far inflaming the base, and now, even when everyone but Meirs' little pet dog tells the Christian Right that she'll overturn Roe vs. Wade, they are still disappointed.

Me, I'm enjoying seeing the far rightists making the same complaints they put down the Dems for making about not being able to get enough info on Roberts.

Yeah, they expected Bush to deliver another Scalia, at least. It's definitely funny that he is in no position to do battle with the Dems and also in no position to offend the faithful.
