Thanks to all for the birthday greetings! And they're welcome at any time--I started celebrating before I left California, kept it up all week with various friends and relations. And Bill's still in Chicago, so we'll do one more round (our anniversary was 10/12--we've been married 14 years, together 17.

But I went to the beach with my sister and brother-in-law for the actual BD. I had a wondeful day--blue skies, sunshine, kayaking in the marsh, and a profiterole for a cake. And many earrings! Dangly ones from Las Vegas, sedate opals, and all. And my dear sister did all the work for the day, even the shrimp heads.

Here are a couple more shots of my grand-cats (taken by D):

Cat perch

Cat sure do love to perch on the side of the cliff, don't they? My sister used to have a small decorative arched opening in the wall between her kitchen and living room about seven foot abve the ground. Somehow her cat found a way to get up there, and loved to lie there and watch everything going on.

Great as long as they stay up there, and don't come tumbling down...

I hope it was the Best of Birthdays, and that it continues to be!

The pictures are great. I love the way cats lie around on high ledges, not a care in the world...

Thanks. And yeah, they have no acrophobia, for sure.

I love how kitties can look so at ease in a situation that most would feel so nervous.

They are true sweeties! Did you put up a picture of your kitty? I'll go back to your site and see.

Didn't find a picture, but did note your SO's realization that kittens are not cats--D and T are noticing that, too. They originally thought they'd get tiny, 8 week old kittens--10 minutes with them at the Humane Society made them think again. Bandito and Ronin are six months old, so very occasionally lie down for a few minutes between distructive and very funny rampages. But it's a long way to the settled habits of the older cat they had been keeping for a friend. I think they're actually loving the kitten behavior but it is unpredictable.

BTW, I hadn't seen that your sister had been evacuated from NOLA. So sorry--hope it will rise again soon, and that her family's life is as good as it can be, after that great loss.
