Sorry, yesterday was day 5.

Day Six: Five books/movies/tv series/etc that you'd recommend

1. OK, now in love with Downton Abbey, esp. since that hot guy died in Mary's bed. Upstairs/Downstairs in the real world (of 1913, but still.)
2. And also enthralled by The Fox, book 2 in Sherwood Smith's Inda series. Pirates! Honor! Intricate intrigue! Hot guys and gals! Great worldbuilding!
3. Inside Job is not entertaining, but definitely necessary viewing for all. What happened to all the money?
4. The Good Wife still works really well for me.
5. Anything by David Mitchell, but still most especially Ghostwritten (nothing like the movie of same name). Reincarnation that makes sense...or not...
6. And I really liked The King's Speech--excellent actors, touching plot.

I think that's happening to me, too (and already has happened with your Inda folks, obviously. The perfect books for long winter nights). I like both sets of actors, and the plot so far has kept me surprised.

1. Fortunately, Downton Abbey was highly recommended to me yesterday at lunch. So I know what you are referring to. LOL. I have to say I didn't like Mary much before Mr. Pamook (sp?) arrived. His early departure did make me a bit more sympathetic.

6. I read the book The King's Speech this weekend. It's not nearly as dramatically good as the movie, but still interesting. It's more a look at Lionel Louge's life. In a distinct change from the old days of movies, I'd say the real Lionel Logue was much more handsome than actor who played him.

Oh my, he really was! Although have to say I really love the way that Geoffrey Rush looks--he's better than handsome. And yes, Mary was a little hard to take. I'm still not sure I'll like her, but thought that was a very amazing event--definitely not what I expected.

I haven't read David Mitchell's latest, but agree with you about all the rest, especially Cloud Atlas.

Have been eyeing Downton Abbey in the BBC shop; now more tempted to try it.

Try Downton! And I really liked The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet--maybe almost as much as Ghostwritten and Cloud Atlas.

I want to see The King's Speech but I'll have to go alone, as I know it would bore Gary to death. Actully, I'll probably wait until Netflix has it - I can't remember the last time we went out to the movies.

It's a fine movie to see on the small screen. The acting is really fine, but I can imagine people getting bored.
