Well, I guess ice can be pretty, but not on power lines. And we seem to be at the end of the line when they get fixed, so if we lose power tonight, it might be out for a while. We have mostly gas--cooking stove, water heater, and gas logs, and we have two lamps and one bottle of oil. But what really counts, batteries: nada. A drawer full of AAA's and D's, and all our lanterns and flashlights take AA or C. I'm charging up the camera batteries and going right now to get out the camping lantern and charge it up, too. Maybe if I'm ready enough, it won't happen.

I have a gas furnace, but it needs electricity to run. If I lose my electricity, I will absolutely freeze to death!

The temperature here hasn't gotten over freezing yet, so the ice is still on the power lines and tree branches, but we're optimistic that it will melt before anything breaks. Usually it happens fairly early in the storm, if it happens.
The magic of preparation wins!
