It's a very cool and windy day for early October, even in Chicago. I walked up to the Jewel just to make myself get out of the house, listening to Leonard Cohen to make the walk shorter.

Lots of serious style going on--jackets, even hats, and lots of very gorgeous boots. Every year on Broadway there's something all the girls have--this year it's leggings or legging-like jeans.

A pack of chihuahuas went by, wearing sweaters and scarves.

A man in a grubby hoody was checking the garbage bin for food.

The clouds were speeding by.

Even though the walk warmed me up a bit, I think I'll have some hot spiced cider and go back to reading, snuggled under the blanket, while Bill watches the last Cub game of the year (Democrats are breaking my heart enough this year--don't need Cubs).

It's 75 back home, and I'll be there tomorrow.

Ah. Jeggings. [tries not to make a face]

But the rest of the walk sounds fabulous, and I hope your journey back to the beach is an easy one! [hugs]

Seventy-five sounds heavenly! We're going down to 42 tonight. I rummaged around and found my winter bathrobe.

I think the nights might be cool there too when I get back, but when I left, it had been over 93 for something like 80 days in a row, so a cool morning would be OK. Just not ready for 52 and windy at midday quite yet.
