The police just came by to tell me they'd found the guy who hit my car! What happened was that the guy from the towing company dropped my car off at the repair place and then went by a filling station--and saw a car with damage on the front including paint marks the same color as my car. Since he knew mine had been in a hit and run, he called the police, who found the guy. When they went to his house, they said, he knew what they were there for.

I googled him and found his Linkd-In entry--tempted to out him, but that's pointless. He is a student at the local U (not my college, I'm glad to say), just as I suspected.

At least I won't have to pay any deductible on the repair. Anybody want to buy a nice Beetle?

And a nice Valentine for the towing company guy!

Ah, a resolution to that, at least.

And it's amazing just who one can google for these days!

Definitely a Valentine for the towing company guy!

And a happier weekend to you, too. :-)

It's great when the good guys win. Have a good and sunny weekend, too!

Points for the tow-truck guy! And maybe the student will now think twice before the next time. Or not, but money sometimes talks where good sense & conscience doesn't. Alas.

Anyway, if you end up with a new car courtesy of insurance, yay!

Yeah, I think so. I expect the ticket he gets for leaving the scene will make him think twice too--though leaving his car with obvious damage at a nearby gas station suggests that thinking is not really his strong point.

Glad they caught up to him. The cops here never bothered to catch the guy who totalled my Subaru even though the neighbors got the license plate number of the car that hit it!

I was impressed with these guys. They got right onto it. Maybe it helped that we were having our version of a snowcalyse and nobody else was doing any crimes. So sorry about your car.

Yay for the alert towing co. guy! This was over before I saw the original post, so yay for fast resolutions too. Hope the Beetle-basher learns his lesson!

I'll be he did. The police said he knew why they were there when they came to the door!
