The police just came by to tell me they'd found the guy who hit my car! What happened was that the guy from the towing company dropped my car off at the repair place and then went by a filling station--and saw a car with damage on the front including paint marks the same color as my car. Since he knew mine had been in a hit and run, he called the police, who found the guy. When they went to his house, they said, he knew what they were there for.
I googled him and found his Linkd-In entry--tempted to out him, but that's pointless. He is a student at the local U (not my college, I'm glad to say), just as I suspected.
At least I won't have to pay any deductible on the repair. Anybody want to buy a nice Beetle?
And a nice Valentine for the towing company guy!

Anyway, if you end up with a new car courtesy of insurance, yay!
