At about 5:30 AM I heard someone knocking on the door. By the time I could find my walking boot and a jacket and started getting ready to go down, it seemed they had gone away. About ten minutes later, a much louder banging woke Bill up and he went down, to find a cop who told us that my car, parked in front of the house as usual, had been hit-and-run-ed (hit and ran)? They had hit it so hard it completely exploded the front fender, broke up the wheel cover, deflated the tire, clearly did damage to the wheel and probably the transaxle. Frankly, I'm hoping the insurance will consider it totaled, even though I just spent around $1000 on the brakes, battery, and window--it seems to be constantly breaking in different places, and now that it's been in a wreck, will be almost impossible to sell.

It's hard for me to see how they could get up that much speed after turning the corner half a block away--but they did. Our neighbor was already up and heard the crash. He was the first knock. He said the cop told him that they'd seen someone with a damaged front end of their car a few blocks away, so maybe they will catch him (I'm sure my insurance hopes so).

So 2010 is not really moving ahead from 2009....hopefully I'm burning off bad karma and will get a pass on the hungry ghost realms.

But also amazing to be that drunk at 5:30 in the morning, on our quiet little street that really doesn't go much of anywhere. However, there are college bars and of course lots of students nearby, so I can imagine it, actually.

Aw man, that sucks!! That has to be so aggravating to know someone tried to leave and get away with it.

Thanks! Me too, very much so! Definitely a sign to tell that car good-bye.

How horrible! I wonder how someone thinks they can get away with that? Did traces of the color of the other car get left behind?

I think so. My neighbor may have seen the car, but I haven't talked with him directly. It does make me mad, but the real think is what I can get from somebody's insurance, either his or mine, in the long run.

Oh no!

Hugs and good thoughts for the aftermath of it all.

Thanks. I think it will work out eventually for the best.

Oh, good grief! I'm so sorry to hear it. I hope the culprit is found (if that suspect looking car is it) and/or at least all will be resolved with relatively little stress.

It won't be too bad, I think. It's a clear sign to get rid of that car, which has had stuff breaking all year.

I hope they catch the ass that did that. And I suspect the car will indeed be considered totaled.
