I worked out on a reclined stationary bike this morning, the first good sustained aerobics since foot debacle. It felt good, but I did only a short session. Will see how my foot feels tomorrow, and if it's good, longer spells next week. Also started back with some free weights for upper body. My left quadriceps is going to be so much more developed than the right--a big change for me! It turns out that not being able to bend your ankle makes the whole leg very heavy to lift, when going upstairs.

I think this whole thing has been much harder for Bill than for me. All I have to do is sit around (and in a nasty winter, that's about what I'd want to do anyway). He has to drive me places and fetch things (well, not quite so much now that I'm out of the cast). Worst of all, though, we can't do much--he's not a big fan of movies and restaurants, and I'm not up for walks and museums for a while yet. Going to parties is fun in a different way--usually I'm the one who wanders around finding various people, but these days I sit and people come up to me.

Only a few more weeks of this left--hopefully I get out of the big boot on Feb. 15 and soon move on to driving and walking, just in time for spring (we hope spring is coming...)

Meanwhile, I'm into the third book of GRR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire--it did improve once I got into it, and I'm liking some characters I'd kind of forgotten. 2500 pages and counting. And last night I watched Nashville, which I'd somehow never seen. The very young Lily Tomlin, in a role that's not comic--and Ronee Blakely and Shelley Duval, actors I don't see anymore.
