So while painting at my new-old house, I made the mistake of listening to back-to-back replays of Fresh Air on the iPod. And I have to say that I was horrified at hearing about the CIA's secret predator drone program. (If you'd rather, you can read about it in the New Yorker ) Who are they killing? Nobody knows--yes, some Al Qaida and Taliban, but also possibly some of the government of Pakistan's internal political enemies. And even worse--they now have little micro-drones that can fly through the window of a house.

They adapted a lot of the technology from video games. Apparently some of the best remote "pilots" are 19 and 20. Ender's Game come true.

I read Jane Mayer's article (thanks for the link) and decided to reserve her book at my library. Don't know if I'll be brave enough to read it when it comes...

She's an impressive reporter, for sure. I'm like you about not being sure I can take the book, but in some ways think I ought to.
