The actual closing was very nice. I like the people I'm buying from--they will build a house nearby and be neighbors, and they've been extremely helpful (it was a little scary that the husband was a housing inspector--I was worried that his buddies would cover up problems, but they recused, and we got an out of town inspector, and I feel fine about everything having been corrected). Bill's still teaching and couldn't be there, but our friend who lives in A'ville came to take me to lunch between the walk-through and closing, and we went to all the great parts of town and had a an excellent lunch (pupusas and roast pork, in my case--not a vegetarian event, but I haven't had meat this week). The trees were as brilliant as I'd expected, and the day was warm and sunny, and I felt good about the house and garden. There's some painting I need to do (their color choices aren't mine, and some places need touch-ups), but today I'm looking forward to being there, very much.

There's a lovely huge closet that has a little round window--that room also has another big closet, so I think I'll make that into a little shrine room, something I can't find a good place for here. And there's a lovely space for yoga in the front room with all the windows.

Today I'm excited about the prospects of exploring lots of new groups and people and places, instead of plugging along in the same-old. Hope that's the feeling that lasts.

The funny part of the closing was that both the real estate agent and the lawyer looked like middle-schoolers to me. I am getting old, I must admit.

Re: hugs

In the front are many perennials--i saw it in bloom in early Sept., so it was dahlias, asters, and those red flowers like a rooster tail (never grew them, don't know the name) and herbs--rosemary and lavender bushes, and some clematis climbing up the lattice. In back is a very big organic vegetable patch (asparagus, the wrold's biggest horseradish, potatoes, tomatoes, squash, lettuces, etc) and fig trees (not sure they ripen up there), kiwi vines!!!, an apple tree, some wild grapes--and lots more I'll discover as it grows. Frost has already come, and most of it is tucked away for winter now. I foresee more flowers, though I tend toward the native or at least the self-reliant in all plants.

It sounds like the house satisfies several conditions for your life/style. That is a great thing.

Clearly a liberal plot. Especially when "younger than me" can mean a person with grey hair and arthritis!
