Here I am in my grand appearance as Buddy Blood Drop for Red Cross Family day. Not quite a vampire, but somehow can't get away from the theme:

I had big funny feet, too, but it was hard to get even one picture in all the madness. That's Sparky the Fire Dog behind me. It was incredibly hot and weird inside those get-ups, and of course most of the kids were afraid of us, up close. I think they liked us at a distance. The parents kept telling them I was an M&M...

Heeee! You do look like an M&M!!
Good thing you're not claustrophobic.

The worst part was how heavy it was on my head--that, and having to be led around since I could barely seen out of that little black spot over the eyes.

I could get into being an M&M, but I'd want to be a blue one!

Good for you! Those mascot outfits are crazy, I've worked with people who've done performances in them and they had cooling vests on underneath but still roasted. And you're lucky the kids were afraid of you, it's far worse when they swarm in for hugs - I once had to protect a Huckle cat from being groped in some very inappropriate ways.

Groping a Huckle cat! That's off to a bad start.

They'd have had to climb inside to get inappropriate in this one! And I'd have loved a cooling unit. It was cold outside and I was still hot.

I know. And maybe that was better--not sure kids would really like meeting a dancing blood drop.

You are my hero(ine). Srsly. That is hard work! And the photo is making me LOL, which isn't easy either. I promise to give blood at the next opportunity in your honor.

Way to go! I actually gave blood last weekend--they had a blood drive at Lunacon. Good thing I did it then--I came down w/a cold Thursday night. (I think that's long enough after Saturday that I don't have to worry about infecting the recipients.)

Anyway. I retroactively dedicate my donation to you!

Yay! Too bad it wasn't down here--you could have gotten a free tee shirt! But hopefully goodness is its own reward. And thanks for the dedication.
