Wow. I just saw Milk. I don't usually actually cry in movies, but that was truly moving. But I had to wonder about waiting to release it in December. I know that's good for the Oscars, but I wonder if it would have impacted the Prop. 8 vote if it had come out earlier.

That's a good thought. I wish they had done that.
Of course there are other movies out there that should have helped too.

Maybe . . . but it's so not a Summer Movie by the usual wisdom of these things.

Yes, true. But occasionally good movies appear before the leaves fall.

I can't see the uncommitted going to a movie in droves large enough to sway a CA vote. The people who attend such a film likely are sympathetic in advance.

I agree. The people who voted for prop 8 are not exactly the people who would go see this movie.

I was more thinking that it might have energized some activism. I know there was a good bit, however, so maybe there was no one left to tap.

I don't think anyone who would be swayed would actually pay money to see this movie. Also, as someone else said, so not a summer movie.

Yeah, but I was thinking more of getting more turnout and more active supporters--but maybe that wouldn't have been possible--maybe they were all already working as hard as they could.

I think there were activists in CA who were disappointed that the film had not been released earlier. It might have by word of mouth, swayed some folks.

I heard something about them intentionally not releasing it until after the election. (But not sure who "them" is.)

That sounds like something you'd read in Little Brother. Strange.
