This weeks NYT Magazine had a good article about Lewis Hyde's The Gift--the idea that interdependence is essential to art, and all that implies.

And today I hear about an online collective of excellent women writing speculative fiction: The Bookview Cafe. and offering it to be read--and free, for this week. By excellent, I mean people like Ursula LeGuin.

Bookview Cafe looks great -- and utterly intimidating! Thank you for the link.

I read The Gift for my first-year law school contract class.

I've been thinking about how I have never read and sci-fi. Maybe I'll try the women's speculative fiction. Thanks.

You might like some of Ursula LeGuin's novels--she deals with issues of social justice, etc.
