How does the McCain campaign come up with these backstabs (Palin, debate cancellation, etc)?

McCain's campaign now has Tucker Eskew as a consultant, the same guy who smeared McCain when he ran against Bush. Eskew is an avatar of Lee Atwater. Look for more dirty tricks in the months to come...

The backstab may be worse than it looks. It's being reported at Huffpo that the Obama campaign called the McCain campaign this morning at 8:30 AM to talk to them about issuing some sort of joint statement about the bailout. They were brushed off for 6 hours at which point McCain campaign agreed and a few moments later made his statement to the media.

Thus proving that when you want to "rise above politics in a time of crisis" you should not, you know, actually rise above it, just agree to do so for political points.

There's a movie about Lee Atwater (http://www.wnyc.org/shows/lopate/episodes/2008/09/26/segments/110500) that just opened here in NYC. It's a documentary that's only playing in 1 small "art" theater, but if it gets picked up, it might actually get out there & get seen more widely. The link is to a radio interview w/the director. It's pretty scary.

I had way to much exposure to the real guy. I don't think I'll be watching if it ever comes here, but thanks for letting me know about it.
