We just reallly don't get to hear much from contemporary Chinese women, so I was excited to find a link to Tang Yaping's "Black Desert," posted by [livejournal.com profile] walking_igloo in [livejournal.com profile] asianstudies

It's really worth reading, if you like poetry at all:

Thank you

Do you know anything about the author? I think this is a research and reread set. Obviously, strong stuff... on first go through, the one I think caught me was #5 Black Cave.

Re: Thank you

I liked (or found disturbing moving) the Black cave and also the Black Tears. But I don't know much about her. I just ordered a book (Out of the Howling Storm by Topny Barnstone) about the "Misty Poets," who wrote 1979-89 in China, and she's listed as one. I'll follow this up if there's anything interesting when it comes.

Glad you like the icon! That's favorite pose of mine, but needless to say, it doesn't look quite like that when I do it!
