So out of the blue my older son dropped by for a couple of days--a nice surprise that doesn't happen often, since we live on opposite coasts, but he was on his way to a work thing near here. We had a great time--saw many friends and relatives, took great walks, ate great food, went to the zoo, stuffed ourselves at the crawfish festival, heard a concert of Turkish music and bellydancing, and finally took a great kayak paddle down the river.

Especially nice since B has made his yearly move to Chicago. I miss him a lot and will go up there soon, but just can't leave the warm nights here when the honeysuckle is blooming and all the trees are lush and green--and next week I go to the beach with my faux-grandkids.

Sounds great! Especially the part about the crawfish and the kayaking..

It definitely was! Although we decided to shower after, not before, those two activities.

We were really glad that we got to see y'all when you came through. We had a great time... sound like the rest of the visit went great as well.

That was really a nice night! Theo had a great time--and yes, the rest of it was really fun, too. We went further down the Congaree than I had been, almost to the 77 bridge. Not so much in the rapids, though, but that was OK.

Love Jake, too--I'm really glad we got to meet him.
