[whining and pouting]

Everybody else already got their preordered Serenity DVD--mine's been sitting in a UPS warehouse in Greensboro for two days, not supposed to get here until after Christmas. >:(

[brightening]

Not that I have time to watch it right now--maybe it can be our New Year's fun at the beach, since my sister loves Firefly too. Don't remember whether she saw the movie even once yet.

But at least the book that left Amazon at the same time as the DVD is going to be delivered today. Fortunately, since it's Bill's Christmas (or part of it)--The Encyclopedia of Chicago. I'll also give him some clothes but those are mostly for my benefit--he'd happily still be wearing his high school shirts if various wives had not intervened.

And of course some ultra-chocolate chocolate (thanks to Anom, I know about Dagoba's organic 87% cocoa bars)! Maybe Santa will leave me the kind with hot chipotles stirred in.

And here's a present that I already opened: Your Cat Is Just Not That Into You. So many truths, so hard to accept...

The sun has set, and now begins the great darkness, the longest night of the year. The darkness: rest, death, the end of things, the light gone away. But I think tonight of Shiva and Kali, who bring the end in order to create a beginning. I hope one year to plan ahead and have the courage to spend this dark night entire in the dark, to savor the absence of light, to love that emptiness.

The spirit of emptiness is immortal.
It is called the Great Mother
because it gives birth to Heaven and Earth.
