If it was here, I'd say it was the clouds that ate it.

We have sunshine umpty days a year, but it seems like every time there is something interesting going on in the sky, it rains here.

Last eclipse we were at the beach and it was raining, but the clouds parted for just half an hour right at the full eclipse! It was a thrill. It always is. But I never get to see the Perseids--so much haze at that time of year.
