Does anyone know if you can use international calling cards with a cell phone? For example, can I use a card to call India from the US using my cellphone in the US?
The thing is that your English phone won't get service in the US. Or at least US phones don't get service in other countries, not even Mexico, unless we get an international phone.
If you had a US phone though I think from what she says that you could use a calling card with that.
Can you use a calling card with your phone to call France, US, etc, from England?
Your best bet is probably going to be to use a calling card with a land-line, since your foreign cell will not get U.S. cell service. You may be able to get a pre-paid U.S. phone service temporarily, but I'm not sure what the international rates are. The rates on my U.S. cell phone vary wildly from country to country. A call I made to Jamaica for under $4 cost nearly $8 for the same number of minutes to Nicaragua.
I do have 'roaming' facilities on my mobile and I've certainly been able to use it on previous visits to US. It is something one does have to remember to set up in advance with one's provider!
