It's more or less the average length of time for someone to play the Doctor, and if you know what happened to Tom Baker you'll know that doing it for too long isn't good for a person.
My problem is how much I dislike Chris Chibnall, who is going to replace Moffat as producer and head writer.
There's the usual speculation in the press (although they finally seem to have stopped making insulting suggestions of non-acting celebrities) but nothing firm. There was a disturbing press story a few months ago claiming that a "BBC source" had said that they are worried about falling ratings with Capaldi and will insist on the next Doctor being another young "sexy" one (and presumably certainly not black or female).
