Archie and Jughead have a gay friend--is it possible that tolerance is creeping in?

wow!
I guess the world changes little by little! I used to love that comic when I was a kid!

Of course, that may mean that Archie will get banned down here...

Interesting, considering the Archie comics I read as a kid were all "Christian" comic books (maybe not representative of the entire franchise, I have no idea).

Huh. I read them in the 50's, and they weren't Christian then (sexist, though, of course...but some good digs at the rich kids). They still dressed like it was the 40's, I remember noticing. Jughead still has that weird hat that I'm sure modern kids must find totally inexplicable.

Eh, it's been so long it's probably back in style by now.

One of the regular Archie artists was an evangelical Christian, and he nagged his bosses into licensing the characters to a Christian apologetics company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spire_Christian_Comics). So, no, that was a very specific subset of the franchise.

Oh, I figured that, but since I wasn't a comic-book reader as a kid, and only stumbled on these at the church camp bookstore and read them out of boredom, that's the only Archie series I've read.
