Tunes of Glory

Hadn't heard of that one. Sounds interesting.

Un Chien Andalu

Oh but the eyeball scene...

Also must admit at first I thought it was a mistype for "Paths of Glory" which is a much under-rated early Kubrick.

The eyeball, and the donkey--I guess the reason I liked it was that it was so shocking (I saw it when I was just discovering experimental film). Tunes of Glory is Alec Guiness in a movie about class and the military--supposed to be excellent, but I never get around to it.

I think I saw that one, long ago--Kirk Douglas in the Foreign Legion? Maybe I just saw part of it, don't have a coherent memory of it.

Its's not the Foreign Legion but it is the French army in WW1

Ah--I looked it up on IMBD and it sounds very interesting--off to Netflix and the endless queue! Thanks for the meme.

Thunder Road?? Bob Mitchum? I think they filmed parts of it near where I grew up. (In the less gentile Carolina)

The very one! I've heard it was made in the NC mountains--maybe near Waynesville? Boone? I actually own an old tape of it, but haven't watched it.Suspect the thrill will not be the same.
