lakrids404! Hope you'll have a wonderful year!Son and partner came to visit. Aside from the many pleasures of their company, a great eat-a-thon ensued:
Friday brunch--cheese-grits-and-sausage, with sauteed kale and pepper vinegar
Friday night--Indian restaurant with my sister and her husband, including chicken vindaloo (super hot!! lovely!), dosas, lamb curry, vegetable pakoras, samosas, lassis, naan, and some kind of wonderful cold desserts.
Saturday during the day was reasonable (turkey sandwich), but Saturday night at a local restaurant: tempura frogs' legs, charcuterie, roast duck with sweet potatoes, and cranberry-pecan bread pudding sprinkled with a good bourbon (and drank a nice Malbec--Tikal? not related to Guatemala, however)
This morning's lunch was sandwiches--grilled pimento cheese with jalapeno. In the afternoon, Dagoba Xocolatl bar (dark chocolate with chilies and nibs) and dried mango.
A sad but fond good-bye to son and partner (headed off to meet a friend for dinner in another city...), just in time for me to go to a party at my British friend's house, theoretically to eat up all her left-over goodies and food-coop specialties: shepherd's pie, sausage, West AFrican veggie stew with peanuts, other things I didn't recognize, trifle, and more nice red wine (Kitchen Sink?!).
I need not to eat again for the next three or four weeks.
