Some of you may recall my adventure with the cellphone and the glass of wine on the train (wine 1, phone 0). Tonight I went in the pool with the Red Cross pager clipped to my suit (pool 1, pager 0). You probably don't want to let me use your small electronic devices.
Vladimir Putin says he thinks that the US stirred up the trouble in Georgia to create support for John McCain. Unfortunately, that seems like just the kind of thing the Bush administration would do.
ETA: Don't mean to imply that the NYT (or I) really think there's anything to Putin's claim--just that the present administration has behaved in such a way in other areas that Putin thought he could make some people believe this. Maybe not in this country, but I'm guessing there are some who do.

I hope none of you live along the Gulf Coast where Gustav might hit, and hope even more that it dissipates or weakens.
