100 in the shade at 5 PM today, and it's only June 8. Well, I'm headed to a cooler place for at least a couple of days--my sister and I leave for France on Tuesday. We'll start in Paris, which seems to be pleasant still, but then go south, probably just in time for it to heat up down there. But I have a feeling that south of France heat does not contend with South Carolina heat.
When you take time out from feeling sorry for Paris Hilton, shed some tears for me--my dishwasher got recalled and I can't get it fixed until I get back. So I had to go buy a dishpan and new drainboard for me and the housesitter (Mop volunteered to help, but she's so slow...although the scratchy tongue is good). B hates drainboards for some reason so I'd been using the nicer-looking wooden kind that folds up, but when you have to take everything out of the non-functioning dishwasher and wash it, you need space. I didn't own a dishwasher until we moved into this house--back in the years of little kids, when it would have really been helpful, it was just me and my ex and the dishpan. Actually I don't find washing dishes an unpleasant activity--nice warm water on your hands, nice simple task that is finished when it's finished.
Looking at new summer TV--any recommendations (don't get HBO here, but do in Chicago, where I'll be later)? I've tried Traveler and Hidden Palms. Traveler seems to be Fugitive with two pretty boys and Hidden Palms seems to be like all the other teen soap operas--so much so that I forgot to watch the second episode.
