Happy very late birthday to
the_red_shoes!
Happy birthday to
fresne!
Hope it's been wonderful for both of you.
I have not gone away again, but am alternately writing and spending a gorgeous warm spell at the beach, kayaking, cooking, writing, and spending time with Bill, who sometimes doesn't like it here but is enjoying this. Because the high tides are midday, I've been able to sneak up on some big wading birds hanging out in the middle of the marsh in big mixed gangs--yesterday I saw a wood stork, a rare bird here, indeed. No white ibis so far, but today's another chance.
We're being visited by a very nice cat, whom I wish I could keep, but travelling as much as we do right now makes it impossible to have any cats in our life besides BC, whom we share with neighbors at home. But this one is so sweet--she's a cream and black tortoise shell, with velvety black feet and nose, and a fluffy tail. She likes to eat (poor thing's been a stray for a while) and to cuddle. Hate to leave her. There's a neighbor here who brought her from a neighborhood where she'd been a true stray, but she'll have to be an outside cat--and she really, really likes being inside.
