I'm in Chicago now. At first I felt bad about the prospect of leaving the Katrina evacuees center but then I realized that the work there would go on for a long time, so I plan to go back to it. And right now they have more volunteers than they need, but later that will die out, and I hope I'll be more useful then. But part of me is still there.

I'm on my way to Berkeley to visit my sons and other friends there--so much love California in the late summer/early fall.

Here in Chicago, I went to a yoga benefit workshop for the Katrina survivors today. It was a lovely thing, to donate the fees for the teachers and space and also to dedicate the practice to them. While I was working there, I was so intent on what I could do , I didn't really have time to think about what they were experiencing, so it was good to spend some meditative time on their feelings.

Also saw a very interesting play--Copenhagen, about the 1941 meeting between Heisenberg and Bohr. Very interesting, in that time, morality, even the play itself became indeterminate. Amazed to read that it was written by the writer of Noises Off--but then I realized that although the plays were different in theme and even genre, the shifting back and forth seems similar.

Hoping to catch up with [livejournal.com profile] anomster tomorrow!
