Racism is always an ugly thing, but a preference for the familiar is a sin of every culture, to some degree. The US and the British have been particularly destructive, but part of that is just because with their size and power comes a great potential for destruction. Like a large, lumbering dog who knocks the teaset off the coffee table, we are a cultural, financial, and military behemoth that can break more dishes by accident than most cultures could break intentionally.
So, when judging the English Speaking world, remember that Our culture is large and contains multitudes. We've engaged in a lot of ideological warfare, but we also invented "cultural relativism."
