As I hopped up to watch Joan tonight, I noticed that the virus scan had come up at an odd time, but thought the computer wanted something to do while I was gone. Well, I guess it missed me so much it committed suicide. When I came back and touched the mouse, the screen saver froze. When I tried to reboot--blank screen.
All you brilliant geeks could have handled it alone, but for me it was hours on hold with Tech Support (at least Dell plays blues for their on-hold music), re-installing Windows (there's a lesson here somewhere), contemplating lost files, discovering my cable software is out of date, realizing I no longer have access to free use of Office software and will have to buy it, etc., etc.
There was a time when my life was gardens, cooking, sewing...how did I get here?
