I just finished reading The Necessary Beggar by Susan Palwick. I liked it very much. It was a very moving picture of what it's like to be a refugee, not damaged by the fact that the central characters are exiled from another dimension. Great combination of the real and the fantastic, and very romantic but believable love story. And like Mary Doria Russell, she has a religious perspective that's not off-putting (even to people like me from religions different from hers).
Her name seems so familiar, but I haven't read or even heard of any of her books before this.
Other than reading, not doing a lot. I'm pretty much walking in shoes, these days, but it's still going to be a while before I can do yoga or walk several miles (hoping by May, but maybe sooner). Eying my garden, but realizing it's too late for early spring crops like peas, but too early for the summer goodies (tomatoes, etc). Maybe lettuce...
And watching the Olympics. I've been very happy with all three skating medals, but don't know enough about the other sports to judge (not like I really know anything about skating either, but I watch it a lot). But getting to where I don't want to see anybody else get hurt or miss a chance because of somebody else.
