Good-bye to my dear old Orange, the sweetest of cats.

He was pretty much OK this morning, even ate a little breakfast. He went out in the afternoon to sit on the neighbors' porch--they've always fed him, even after he moved in with us. At about 4, their son found him dead on the porch. It must have been quick--maybe a heart attack or stroke. He'd been nauseated off and on for the past few weeks, but recovered fairly quickly. He had some nice rare roast beef last night and relished it. A good death, considering the options.

But he was a very good cat. He wasn't a hunter, and didn't defend territory. He purred so easily, and meowed so rarely, humbly glad to take whatever was given him, and to give all the love he can.

*hugs* I'm sorry your kitty is gone, mamcu. He sounds like he was a good friend to you all. Doesn't seem to be the week for pets, does it?

Thanks. He was old, and had a good life at the end, at least, but we will miss him.

I think so! If anyone's there, he is. Or else on his way to a great rebirth. Maybe he gets to be a deva this time around. I think he earned it.

I'm so sorry to hear of Orange's passing, but at least you know that he had a good life and a peaceful death. I'm sure he is chatting to my Poppy in kitty heaven! My sympathies.

The news lately has been making me hug my own kitties. I'm glad yours had a good life.

I think he did, at least in the end (we're pretty much cat servants around here). Hug them again for me, and give them some roast beef!

So sorry. That's a beautiful photo of him.

She died almost exactly 3 years ago this month. I'd had her for 20 years, and she died peacefully in my arms, waiting to see the Vet. She did leave a big hole in my life, and I do still miss her. But I have Annie, and Chloe and Sam now, so it's fine.

I'm so sorry you lost him, and I'm glad he had a good life and a peaceful death.
